Borrowing Policies – You must agree to these terms in order check out material.
1. FIRST CHECK-OUT: NEW members are subject to a limited first time check-out of three items. Upon an on-time return, the number of items allowed out will increase to ten.
2. CHECK-OUTS for returning members: Check-outs are limited to ten items out under one patron’s name at one time. Patron’s account must be in good standing.
3. RENEWING ITEMS: To ensure high availability to all members, borrowed items may only be renewed once for an additional three weeks, without exception. You must renew on or before the scheduled due date, or you will not be allowed to renew.
4. RETURNING MATERIAL: Checked-out items may be returned during operating hours in the library. In addition, we provide the convenience of items being dropped off in the WHITE BIN on the front porch at any time. If you return items on the porch we ask that you provide a courtesy phone call or email to let us know that the material has been dropped off.
5. LATE FEES: Late fees will be assessed at $.05/item/day effective the first business day after the date due. We will do our best to send out reminders when material is overdue, but you accept the responsibility to return the material in a timely manner
6. SIGNIFICANTLY LATE ITEMS: Significantly overdue items will be subject to charges equal to retail or replacement costs (whichever is higher) in addition to a $7 processing fee.
7. ITEMS LOST OR DAMAGED: We understand that sometimes, despite best intentions, borrowed items are lost, stolen, or damaged. To ensure that our inventory is available to other members, and to limit our losses, all borrowed items are the account holder’s responsibility. Regardless of who actually causes the damage or loss, any lost, damaged, stolen, or otherwise non-reusable items will be charged to the account holder at our retail or replacement rates. Failure to promptly pay any lost item fees will subject your account to termination and the forfeiture of your membership fee. NOTE: If you would like to purchase replacement material personally, please make arrangements with us in advance.
8. CARE OF MATERIALS: Please treat borrowed items with care and do not mark in or on any borrowed items. If items are determined to have been significantly uncared for they may be deemed damage by Christian Home Library, resulting in replacement fees. Smoking: Although we do not prohibit the lending of items to families with a smoker in the home, we do encourage you to keep Lending Library items away from all smoking materials. Items returned with a strong odor of smoke may, at our sole discretion, incur an item replacement fee.
9. COPYRIGHTS: You explicitly agree NOT to copy, reproduce, redistribute, or otherwise violate any publisher's copyrights when using any library item. (Reproducibles excepted when authorized by the publisher.)
